The Vesper Martini
Wednesday, June 14th, 2006Following a Yankees rain delay, I finally got to try out a Vesper Martini over at Tom and Jerry’s off of Houston. What’s a Vesper?
- 3oz. Gin
- 1oz. Vodka
- 1/2 oz. Lillet
- Shaken, not stirred
- Lemon twist for garnish
Where’d it come from, as if the phrase didn’t give it away? It was THE original martini James Bond concocted and named after Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale. I’m not much for flavored martinis (Lillet has a bit of a citrus flavor going for it), but it wasn’t too bad. Coincidentally, there seemed to be a number of women around the bar who love Lillet. Well, at the very least I got to see the official bar cat pounce on the bartender.
